Technology & the Future of the Book

Enviado em 23/03/2009 [Recorded: March 1, 2009] Digital technology has created unprecedented changes in the way we live and work today. To consider these transformations in American society and culture, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences organized a symposium on the Impact of Information Technology on Society in March 2009 In one session of this symposium, hosted at the Computer History Museum, a distinguished panel discussed "Information Technology and the Future of Books, Publishing, and Libraries." The questions considered included: As publishing continues to move toward a digital model, what happens to libraries and their clients, researchers, and students? What forces are shaping the future of the printed book? What will be the future of book publishing? The panelists were: - Edward Feigenbaum, Kumagai Professor in the School of Engineering, Emeritus, Stanford University - John Warnock, Co-Chairman of the Board, Adobe Systems Inc. - John Hollar, President and CEO, Computer History Museum - Daniel J. Clancy, Engineering Director, Google Book Search Project - Michael A. Keller, University Librarian, Stanford University - Donald A. B. Lindberg, Director, National Library of Medicine The Computer History Museum thanks the American Academy of Arts and Sciences for making this video available. CDBaby is a sight that has my Children's Album.

Sid is a seed who is quite at home, living in his little underground world. He has two living companions, a spider and a caterpillar, whom are making plans to become something great. Slowly his friends leave on their exciting journeys, leaving Sid by himself, longing for his own life changing event.
My name is Daniel Pagan and I posted my story because I feel that my story is special, engaging and unique. Children want to learn, to grow! When you are so small, you look toward big things and you dream about being in new places. I feel that my story inspires young readers to let their imaginations run wild. More importantly, my story will show young children that they are a masterpieces waiting to happen.
I am a special education teacher living in Kentucky. I also have a Bachelors degree in Art. I am a musician as well and I feel that writing songs has helped me to write my picture book stories. I plan on using Sid the Seed as a teaching tool to inspire kids to reach their full potential. Please enjoy, let me know where youre from and pass this video on!

Little Fish by John Tambunan (Kindergarten)

Publicado em 15/05/2012
This book was written by John Tambunan together with his mother Jane Ross. John cam home one today to show his mum a fish that he had caught at the local river. His mum suggested that he make it into a book and asked John to show her the river and how he caught it. She took photos with her mobile phone. Then John made the story to go with each photo. Jane typed it up for her son and he added voice recordings. You can download the book from the Apple iTunes iBookstore here http://itunes.apple.com/us/book/littl...
